Statement from Karen Hayes AM DSJ

I have today made the difficult decision to resign from GDV.

GDV is a wonderful organisation that does incredible work in the community. It has been a great privilege to lead GDV for the last 10 years and I have given the organisation my all.

In my role as CEO of Guide Dogs Victoria I’ve had the great privilege of being able to build respectful and trusted relationships with countless community leaders and supporters in many contexts. I’m eternally grateful to each of those who have helped us build GDV into the incredible organisation it is today. I have publicly demonstrated that gratitude personally and on behalf of GDV many times.

I’m incredibly proud of my drive and leadership and the amazing efforts of the fundraising team in securing $30 million through our capital campaign for the campus redevelopment program. This achievement now sees our collective dreams for GDV and the Guide Dog community come to life.

I am overjoyed at what we’ve achieved, and will watch from the sidelines with enthusiasm and support to see the program through to finalisation.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have supported me on my Guide Dogs journey, and I wish all at GDV a happy, successful and flourishing future.

I will forever be the strongest of advocates for Guide Dogs Victoria.

With thanks

Karen Hayes AM DSJ
