Early Childhood Services Launch
Guide Dogs Victoria has launched a new Early Childhood Service (ECS), designed to ensure children living with blindness or low vision can access the same advantages of early childhood education as their peers.
The new service officially launched through a virtual event on Wednesday 30 September. At the event, there were presentations from GDV’s CEO Karen Hayes, Early Childhood Educator Jayne Metcalf, Orthoptist Khoa Nguyen, Occupational Therapist Katherine Mitchell, and Orientation and Mobility Specialist Alicia San Martin.
Guide Dogs Victoria are so grateful for the investment and support from a range of philanthropic foundations and private donors which has enabled the launch this service which supports the future of young babies and children living with low vision or blindness. In the past financial year alone, the team at Guide Dogs Victoria have provided services to 15 children aged up to six years, and aim to support 50 children and their families in the year to come.
