Dine, Dog and Dash recap

February 04, 2024

In late January, Guide Dogs Victoria hosted its first on-site children’s program for 2024, called Dine, Dog and Dash.

Eight children with low vision or blindness and their siblings attended the day, which centred on exploring our new office facilities, developing cooking skills and becoming more confident handling our dogs.

The event allowed the children to use their mapping skills and try out BindiMaps, an indoor navigation app available at the GDV Kew Campus to help people with low vision navigate indoor spaces. They also made air fryer pizzas and walked with, and bathed, a Guide Dog.

Everyone enjoyed cameo appearances from GDV staff members, who talked about their work and life experiences: Karan, who is a white cane user; Erin and her Guide Dog Jet; and Elisha, our Therapy Dog Advisor.

We’re looking forward to more children’s programs in 2024. Keep an eye on our events page!

This program was supported by the Perpetual’s 2023 – IMPACT Philanthropy.
