Guide Dogs Victoria invites secondary school-aged children to our very first Secondary School-aged Mobility Program in our brand-new, world leading accessible residential training facility.

This overnight program is designed to be broad and introduce a wide range of fun and challenging experiences including music, arts and entertainment. Participants will be encouraged to take a proactive role in helping design and develop the program.

Children with low vision or blindness can try a variety of accessible and engaging activities with the support of Guide Dogs Orientation and Mobility and Occupational Therapy staff and special guests. Participants are guaranteed support and a positive experience by developing skills and friendships in this fun and social environment.

Activities include:

  • Fun group activities and games.
  • Travelling on the Melbourne public transport system and learning travel skills in the city.
  • Learning about how to enjoy and create music.
  • Learning how to identify whether arts and entertainment shows and venues are accessible.
  • Engaging in meal preparation activities by trying different equipment that makes food preparation more accessible, fun and engaging.
  • Developing skills to negotiate new environments, like community venues, and managing personal equipment and belongings.

Date: Monday 23 September (10 am start) to Wednesday 25 September (3 pm finish)

Location: Guide Dogs Victoria Kew Campus, 2-6 Chandler Highway, Kew 3101
