Meet the pups: Puppy Raising and volunteering information sessions
Learn about volunteering with Guide Dogs Victoria as a Puppy Raiser. Without the immense contribution of Puppy Raisers, Guide Dogs Victoria would not be able to train life-changing Guide Dogs that provide freedom and independence to a person with low vision or blindness. Find out more about what is involved from our Puppy Development Advisors. Chairs and refreshments will be available.

Time: Morning session: 10am – 11:30am. Afternoon session: 1pm – 2:30pm

Tuesday 5 October
Come and try: Smartphone and computer tips and tricks
Meet Guide Dogs Victoria’ s Assistive Technology specialists and learn how accessible technology can enhance your independence. There are many tools and devices to help you access information, find your way around, connect with friends, or enjoy your favourite activities. Some of these tools and technologies may be new, while others can connect to, or enhance devices you already own, like your smartphone. Chairs and refreshments will be available.

Thursday 7 October
Creating connected communities – Bendigo
Pop in for a cuppa, meet the Guide Dogs Bendigo team and learn about their range of services, that include connecting with others and involvement in local groups. These sessions are a great opportunity to make new friends and have a chat with other people with low vision and blindness. Chairs and refreshments will be available.

Come and try: Tools for reading
Meet with Guide Dogs Victoria’s low vision specialist to learn about strategies for:

  • reading books, newspapers or magazines
  • reading labels in supermarkets, pharmacies and shops
  • reading street and public transport signs
  • maintaining the hobbies you love

Chairs and refreshments will be available.
