About the event

Guide Dogs Victoria’s Primary Aged Mobility Olympics Camp will be running this July school holidays. This camp is designed to introduce children to an array of accessible sports, while benefiting from the social opportunities provided by sharing fun and challenging experiences with their peers. This camp is equally suitable for children who haven’t yet had a positive introduction to sport or have thought that sport isn’t accessible enough for them, through to the enthusiastic sports star.

Mobility Olympics Camp is an opportunity to:

Try a variety of sports that are available and accessible to children with low vision or who are blind. With the support of Guide Dogs Orientation and Mobility and Occupational Therapy staff, as well as specialised coaching for the specific sports, participants will be supported to have a positive sporting experience by developing appropriate skills in a fun, social and engaging environment.

  • Participate in fun group activities and games.
  • Travel on the Melbourne public transport system and learn travel skills in the city.
  • Develop friendships with your peers
  • Learn about what accessible sports are available in Victoria.
  • Try different equipment that may make sport more accessible, fun and engaging.
  • Hear from, and meet, athletes and coaches who are active in accessible sports.
  • Develop skills to negotiate new environments, like sport venues, and mange personal equipment and belongings.
  • Develop knowledge and skills for preparing healthy snacks for your sporting day out or for recovery.
