Ask Guide Dogs – February 2024

Reflection on disability sector for 2023, the roadmap for 2024 and what impacts Guide Dogs Clients

In this interactive online event, National Policy and Government Relations Advisor Jeremy Anderson and guest presenters will take a deep dive into the impact of the findings of the Disability Royal Commission and the NDIS review from 2023 on Guide Dogs Clients. They’ll also share what Guide Dogs has on their advocacy roadmap for 2024. After this presentation, we’ll open the floor for questions and discussion about what you think is the most important action Guide Dogs could take in 2024 to make meaningful and impactful change.

The purpose of Ask Guide Dogs events is to facilitate discussion and conversation within the Guide Dogs community. The presentation of a topic followed by an invitation for attendees to contribute to the session topic, ask questions, share experiences and engage in open discussion is intended to facilitate connection within our community and for everyone to deepen their understanding of the session topic.

While this session is primarily for Clients, everyone is welcome. After registering for this session, you’re welcome to submit questions ahead of time by email to community@guidedogs.asn.au. Attendees will be sent a survey to complete after the session to help us improve the quality and relevance of these sessions.

Program

7 pm to 7.05 pm: Introduction and Acknowledgement of Country

7.05 pm to 7.50 pm: Presentation (all attendees will be muted for recording purposes).

7.50 pm to 8.30 pm: Questions and discussion. Attendees will be asked to say their name and their perspective on the topic (person with lived experience, carer/guardian, practitioner, et cetera) before they contribute to the discussion or ask a question.

8.30 pm: close.
