Long cane refresher program for Guide Dog Handlers

Come and stay with us at our brand-new, fully accessible residential training facility in Kew and brush up on your long cane skills with a two-day refresher program! 

Work one-on-one with an Orientation and Mobility Specialist to refresh, refine and strengthen your cane skills. 

Included in the program: 

• Group discussion about the range of long cane options and the variety of cane tips, so you can understand what type of cane and tip suits your purpose.  

• Develop efficiency in using the long cane, using stairs, and safely navigating dynamic environments such as road crossings.  

• Opportunity to connect with others during group activities and personal free time during your stay. 

Costs:  

• $539 for one night’s accommodation including all meals.  

• $193.99 per hour for up to 10 hours of one-on-one instruction. 

• For individuals with NDIS funding, this can be drawn from your Capacity Building or Core Support sections of your plan. 

Programs two, three and four are now available to book: 

• Program two: 27 to 28 August 2024
• Program three: 9 to 10 October 2024
• Program four: 19 to 20 November 2024
