Meet Zara
At Guide Dogs, we aim to help children and teens like Zara achieve their hopes and dreams for the future.
Meet one of our incredible Clients, Zara, who has been receiving services from Guide Dogs since she was three.
Zara has Oculocutaneous Albinism (OCA), and while her condition has presented some challenges for Zara, nothing has stopped her from doing what she can to participate in activities like other children.
With Guide Dogs’ help, Zara was provided a white cane to help her navigate the world, and also taught skills that allowed her to move about confidently. Now at 16 years old, Zara has so many passions and one in particular is sport. Zara has now been selected to be part of the Women’s National Goalball Squad!
Zara’s hope for her future...
“I won’t be seeking help just to survive and exist, it’s about living, dreaming and doing things that contribute to the world as much as anyone else can.” – Zara
For Zara, she is considering her next steps and while she loves sport, in high school she has started exploring her creativity by writing poems, stories and music. Her next goal is to get into university to do a Bachelor in Fine Arts Production.
This Christmas we are asking you to help give the gift of hope to children like Zara, so that they can actively participate in the community and increase their independence as they learn and grow on their path to achieving their dreams.
Please donate this Christmas to build hope for the future.
Your donation this Christmas will help us provide pathways for Children like Zara to participate in activities and experiences that build their skills, confidence and independence.
