No. We love all animals, but for this event, please keep your furry best friends at home. However, we welcome active Guide Dogs and puppies in training. Unfortunately, retired Guide Dogs can’t join us this time.
It takes a lot of training and concentration for a person with low vision or blindness to work safely with a Guide Dog. We can’t wait to welcome you to our Community Fair, but before we do – let’s cover a couple of ground rules to ensure everyone, including Guide Dog Handlers, has a great time.
- Look, but don’t touch: While it’s tempting to say hello, working Guide Dogs need to stay focused. Please don’t pat, call out to, distract or try to feed them.
- Always ask before offering help: Please don’t grab onto a person or their Guide Dog’s harness. If you think someone may need assistance, simply ask first.
- Give space: When you see a Guide Dog working, avoid stepping into their path or trying to engage with them. A little extra space helps them do their job safely.
Meet our Ambassador Dogs: Our friendly Ambassador Dogs will be there to say hello on the day.
Thank you for helping us create a welcoming and inclusive event.
