Guide Dogs Victoria Partners with Advanced Vetcare, Construction of On-Site Clinic at Kew Campus Begins
31 March 2021: Guide Dogs Victoria has announced a new partnership with specialist veterinary medicine and surgery clinic Advanced Vetcare to deliver veterinary services on-site at the charity’s Kew campus.
Advanced Vetcare will extend its vital services beyond its current Kensington and Geelong facilities to the Kew campus – part of a $27 million redevelopement to create the world’s first fully accessible sensory campus.
Advanced Vetcare will be providing Guide Dogs Victoria with both specialists procedures and General Practice Vet services, and will initially offer specialist veterinary services including 24 hour emergency care, surgery and oncology to the surrounding community.
“This new partnership rests on the shared values of both organisations, combining the heritage of the Guide Dogs brand with a joint commitment to patient-centric care and, of course, a love of animals,” said Guide Dogs Victoria CEO Karen Hayes.
“Veterinary services are one of the biggest costs to Guide Dogs Victoria and have previously been outsourced. This partnership will significantly offset those costs and, more importantly, provide our Guide Dogs with the highest-quality services on-site.
“With each Guide Dog costing $50,000 to breed, raise and train, this partnership will certainly help us make our donor dollars go further, allowing us to fund even more vital services for Victorians with low vision or blindness,” Ms Hayes added.
“We look forward to the opportunity of working closely with Guide Dogs Victoria to develop a world-class facility focussing on exceptional animal care within the fantatistic Kew Campus redevelopment,”said Sam Snelling, Director of Advanced Vetcare.
Construction of the new clinic was marked on Wednesday 31 March with a ground breaking ceremony, alongside other partners in the ventre – builders 2Construct and architects FPPV Architecture.
