It is with great pleasure that we share the news that Guide Dogs Victoria Chief Executive Officer, Karen Hayes has been appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2019 Australian Day Honours List.

This is a significant award and demonstrates the enormous contribution Karen has made in the community in support of people with low vision and blindness over her seven-year tenure at Guide Dogs Victoria.

“It is a tremendous honour to be appointed as a Member (AM) of the Order of Australia, and I am truly humbled to be named among this list of incredible Australians.

“I’d like to congratulate the others who have been recognised as part of this year’s Australia Day honours list, but also extend thanks to my incredible support networks who have made my journey such a rewarding and memorable one,” Karen enthused.

Karen has many passions in the community and has also been recognised for her significant contributions to gender equity and women in sport through her work with the International Women’s Forum and the Melbourne Football Club.

Congratulations Karen!
