Explore More, a three-day residential group program designed for secondary school students who are blind or have low vision. Through real-world adventures, practical challenges and shared experiences, participants will build confidence, strengthen everyday living skills and develop greater independence in a supportive and fun environment.
From travelling after dark, cooking with friends and exploring the city to navigating unfamiliar places, every activity is designed to build the practical skills needed for greater confidence at home and in the community.

Night-Time Travel AdventureÂ
Experience the world after dark while learning practical night travel strategies, orientation techniques and confidence when travelling in low-light environments.
MasterChef Challenge
Work alongside our Occupational Therapists to plan, prepare and cook delicious meals as a team while developing kitchen safety, organisation and independent living skills.
City Travel Adventure
Plan your journey, navigate Melbourne using public transport and work together to explore new places using Orientation and Mobility skills, assistive technology and problem-solving.
Chill & Connect EveningsÂ
Relax with friends through games, conversations and social activities designed to build confidence and lasting friendships.

Clinical BenefitsÂ
Students who are blind or have low vision benefit from instruction and repeated opportunities to develop independent living, travel and community participation skills that sighted peers commonly acquire through incidental learning.
This three-day residential group program provides an extended, real-world learning environment where participants can develop and practise these essential skills across a range of everyday situations. With two overnight stays, students have the opportunity to build skills in personal care routines, meal preparation, community navigation, public transport, social participation and independent decision-making.
The program is facilitated by Orientation & Mobility Specialists and Occupational Therapists at a 1:2 support ratio.

When: Monday 21 September 2026 (10:00 am) – Wednesday 23 September 2026 (3:00 pm)
Where: Guide Dogs Victoria Campus, 2–4 Chandler Highway, Kew VIC 3101
Cost: $2383.36
Cost includes capacity building therapy services delivered at a 1:2 support ratio. Therapists are Orientation & Mobility Specialists and Occupational Therapists. Support Workers form part of the after-hour activities. Activities and meals are generously supported through Guide Dogs Victoria philanthropy funding.
GDV programs can be invoiced under both Core Supports and Capacity Building Supports, depending on a participant’s NDIS plan and individual goals. We are always happy to work with families, Support Coordinators, and Plan Managers to ensure invoicing aligns appropriately with each participant’s plan.
