The Orientation and Mobility Game Where Asking the Right Questions is the Key to Success!

Learning to make sense of our environment can be easier than you think!

Join us for a game of Orientation and Mobility themed “20 Questions” to learn how to classify and sort the objects you encounter while navigating your environment.

20 Questions will aim to:

  • Help you identify different objects based on where you might find them.
  • Learn how to classify and sort objects (starting with animal, vegetable or mineral and then narrowing it down from there).
  • Develop your problem-solving skills for more confident mobility.
  • Provide social interaction for a group of students who are blind or have very low vision, and are of a similar age.

20 Questions will be held on Thursday 12 November at 4.30 pm. The session will last approximately one hour, but please allow some time either side.

Where:

The session will be held online, via the popular video platform Zoom. To attend, you’ll need to have access to a reliable device with stable internet connection and to be familiar with using Zoom (mum and dad can help if required).

Who:

This session will be facilitated by Guide Dogs Victoria Orientation and Mobility Specialists and is open to primary school children aged between five and nine years old.

While parents need not join in, it is beneficial that you are present at the start of each session and available throughout should the need arise.

How much:

20 Questions has been made possible due to the contributions of the Shine On Foundation.

For students with an NDIS plan, the estimated cost of the program will be between $25.72 and $34.10, depending on the number of children participating in the session.

NDIS funding covers the service delivery of Orientation and Mobility during the program but does not cover the development and implementation of the program.
