I need help

Rory & Guide Dog Gideon

Rory is in his early 40s and had a successful career in the recruitment industry for over 15 years. After arriving home from a family holiday with his wife and two young children, Rory experienced pain in his left ear, which led to meningitis. Four days later, Rory lost his sight.

Rory was introduced to Gideon and after spending some time together, Rory knew that Gideon would improve his independence. “The day I found out that Gideon would be mine was incredibly emotional,” said Rory. Rory’s wife, Sally, soon began to see a change in Rory’s confidence. “You could see how much his world had been opened up to him. I knew then that he was going to get back to a very normal life.”

Rory says, “Gideon has changed my life, giving me the confidence and independence to go out, to take the boys to the library or pick them up from school. My life has changed dramatically in a relatively short period of time because of Guide Dogs Victoria and the Guide Dog I have in Gideon.”
